Programming with Nothing

It’s an interesting idea: to program in a language without all its modules (libraries) and with just the bare bones of the language itself. Watch [Tom Stuart’s presentation at RubyManor][ts]. It makes no sense for someone like me to think about it in its original terms of coding, but it might for something like writing. What are the writing equivalents of “no gems, no standard library, no modules, methods, classes or objects” and “no control flow, no assignment, no arrays, strings, numbers or booleans”? At this point, this is not a rhetorical question, but a real one? How much can we transfer ideas about writing from one realm to another? When is [writing writing][ww]?
